How To Increase Your Ability To Focus

Everybody seems to be writing lately about how the online world have shortened our attention span. The amount of information that we process daily is forcing us to switch context rapidly. You have probably experienced plenty of that yourself. I have recently read in an article that one of the new expressions in the Swedish language (I am studying Swedish) is “popcorn brain”. You would say that someone has a popcorn brain if they switch focus way too often. The type of person that watches tv with the phone in their hand, switching their attention between the two and keeping track of various pop up notifications as well. I found that hilarious that Swedish felt the need to describe a person in this way but I actually agree with this. This expression is super useful. Sometimes I have popcorn brain myself. A few years back I really struggled to focus for long periods of time. Focusing even for 30 minutes at a time seemed like a challenge. At the time I worked as a technical …

Green Smoothies

Week 4 – 2021 This is another post from the series “I tried something new this week”. Lately I have been trying to minimise food waste as much as possible. In general, I try to minimise waste of any kind but throwing away food is something that I hardly tolerate. Yes, we have everything at our fingertips, from takeaway food to grocery deliveries. I found a really good way to prevent any fresh vegetables or fruits go to waste, I do smoothies. They make a great breakfast or afternoon snack and they keep well in the fridge for at least one day in a sealed jar. I am going to …

Find Inner Energy with Kundalini Yoga

Week 47 – 2020 This is another post from the series “I tried something new this week”. I want to share a few thoughts after my first couple of kundalini yoga sessions last week. I have been looking to improve my energy levels and my strength since I am working from home full time and do not move as much as I should. Is not enough with daily walks and the occasional run. For a while I did pilates but that became repetitive and a chore. I am clearly looking for something else that I can enjoy and is sustainable for me. Before I found the class I didn’t know much about kundalini yoga. Actually, I don’t know much about it today, I just had 2 sessions. But I am super keen to learn because it feels really good after each session! So far I was taught a few breathing techniques and a few postures. They can be challenging and I had to push myself to find more strength, I could feel my muscles at …
